Description
Vanilla pods are a pantry staple for baking and desserts. The pods, also known as vanilla beans, have a distinctive flavour and aroma. Its sweet, almost creamy, with warm floral notes.
Use whole vanilla pods to infuse milk, cream and custard. The pods add depth and complexity to desserts like crme brule and panna cotta. Split the pods and scrape out the seeds to flavour cakes and cookie dough.
Vanilla pods are great for drinks, too. Try making vanilla-infused rum or vodka to use in cocktails. You can add the empty pods to a jar of sugar and leave it to sit for a few weeks. The sugar will absorb the vanilla flavour, creating a delicious sweetener for hot chocolate and baked goods.
