Description
Ginkgo kernels are a popular snack in many southeast Asian countries. Also known as ginkgo nuts, they are actually a seed from the gingko biloba tree.
The pale yellow kernels have a sweet, nutty flavour with a slightly bitter finish. Their texture is similar to that of edamame.
Across Asia, these kernels are added to soups, stir-fries, congee and desserts. You will also find street hawkers selling fried and roasted seeds. A little salt enhances their nutty taste.
Try roasting them at home or add them to fried rice.
Ingredients: Corn starch (86%), water, colours (e102)
