Alpenzus Giardiniera mixed vegetable pickles are a sweet and sour combination of peppers, carrots, cauliflower, fennel, celery and green beans. The vegetables are carefully prepared by hand, then preserved to create a firm, crunchy texture in every piece. The addition of apple cider vinegar brings a tangy flavour to the vegetable mix.
Giardiniera also called sottaceti which translates as under vinegar are typically eaten as an antipasto, or with salads. It is also traditional in Italy to layer these mixed vegetable pickles through a muffuletta sandwich.
