Mixed candied peel is a bakers best friend. It transforms cakes and bakes with its intense citrus flavour. Opies mixed peel is made with orange and lemon peel.
Candied peel captures the sweet and slightly bitter flavour of citrus peel. Its finely shredded with a firm, chewy texture. Its traditionally used in fruit cake, sweet breads and Christmas pudding.
Keep candied peel in your pantry to add a burst of citrus to cakes and desserts. It adds sweet zing to Florentines, loaf cakes and hot cross buns. Add a pinch to mincemeat to make zesty mince pies.
Candied peel can also be used to make ice cream and decorate cakes.
