Description
Banana blossom, also known as banana heart, are the flowers which grow on the banana plant. It can be used fresh, or canned in brine, to preserve it. Banana blossom has a fleshy, flaky texture and neutral flavour, and is a popular ingredient in Southeast Asian and Indian cooking, used in curries and chutneys.
Canned banana blossom is frequently used in vegan recipes as a replacement for fish due to its flaky texture.
