Description
Shichimi is a Japanese dry spice blend made with seven fragrant ingredients. With 67% yuzu powder, this blend has a powerful citrus flavour.
Fresh lemony notes give way to the heat of red pepper. The spicy seasoning also contains seaweed, sansho pepper and sesame seeds.
Sprinkle shichimi over steamed rice, crispy squid and fried chicken. It adds a pop of colour, citrus tang and subtle spice. You can serve it in pinch pots at your table so guests can add it to stir fries and tempura.
Shichimi is also called seven spice powder – schimi meaning seven in Japanese. This seasoning blend dates back to the 17th century and is as popular as salt and pepper in Japan.
