I am fascinated by tortoises and how their shells trace their long lifespan. Tortoise shells symbolize protection from the outside world just as the homes we create give us a sense of safety and well-being. The patterning and deep, rich colors of the tortoise shell feel so luxurious and exotic to me. -M.
